Sports
Glasses: Sports eyewear
has two main functions - improve your performance/ enjoyment of the sport
and provide adequate safety protection for the only two eyes you have.
They are equally important for adults as our invincible kids, and
competitive or recreational athletes.
Sport goggles are a class of nearly indestructible wrap around frames
designed to take extraordinary impacts and disperse the force to cushioned
pads minimizing injuries. The lenses can be prescription or clear and are
made of extra tough polycarbonate material like riot shields. The net
result is being able to shake off a blow from a ball or elbow to the face,
instead of a trip to the hospital for stitches, or worse yet, a sight
threatening eye injury. Swim goggles used to only fit other people. They help reduce eye
injuries and protect sensitive eyes from chlorine or swimming pool
infections. We carry the VJU line of custom swim goggles. They are
designed for any one who wants a comfortable, reliable goggle that is also
durable. They come in 4 shapes to fit your facial anatomy and a wild array
of colors. The shapes include 3 styles for teens/adults and a new style
for young swimmers ages 4-9. Their polycarbonate lenses are
impact-resistant, have full UV protection, a light tint for glare and are
anti-fog treated. Sunglasses: We all know how important sunscreen is to our skin, but we often forget to protect our eyes from the same harmful UV rays. Like other glasses, sunglasses now come in even greater choices from traditional metals to magnetic sun clip-ons to high tech sports glasses. We have styles from Bolle, Nautica, Tommy Hilfiger and more for boating, skiing, golf, fishing, biking, etc. Besides our great selection, we’re happy to custom order a pair with or without your prescription. Remember any sun lens is only as good as its ability to filter UV light, which we know can increase the risk of cataracts and macular degeneration. We stock only high-quality, fully protecting sunglasses. We even have a UV test meter in the office if you’d like to check your old favorites up against a new pair. Just remember, a dark lens that doesn’t block UV actually puts you at greater risk by letting the pupil dilate and letting in more UV than no tint at all. Children are at increased risk since UV penetrates their eyes easier and they are much less likely to wear protective lenses. One study pointed out that we receive 75% of our lifetime exposure to the sun by age 18. Remember all those lazy, hazy days of summer? You can pick out styles from our special selection of children’s sunglasses with lenses you know you can trust. |
